Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking sheet (about 9×13 inches or similar).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the topping. In a saucepan, melt the butter, sugar, honey, and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately spread the candied almond mixture over the top.
- Pour the hot butter and sugar mixture evenly over the almonds, ensuring the entire surface is covered.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before cutting it into squares or rectangles.
